Michael and I would like to say thank you to everyone who has stayed in our cottage during 2012, and for making it another successful year.

It was lovely to meet new people and catch up with guests who have made a return visit.

The farm continues to be busy with calves been born throughout the year and the Robotic milking machine working successfully. As always it’s a pleasure to show you around the farm. You can then appreciate and experience the day to day life on a working dairy farm.

Farming has been challenging during 2012 due to the very wet weather and the milk price. Thank you to everyone who supported dairy farmers during the last year; we survived and have our fingers crossed for a drier 2013.

Once again during the summer months we showed our Highland cattle at Danby and Egton agricultural show, winning rosettes and a cup hopefully we will be as successful this year, come along and see how we perform.

In November the cottage was again accessed by Visit Britain, for the fourth year running we achieved a four star gold award, which we are extremely proud of.

We have had a fantastic January for people who love the snow; it was very spectacular around the farm; amazing drifts, just right for sledging and igloo making.

The cottage remained open with the help of Michael and a snow plough; it was warm and inviting after a day’s walking or just snowman building.

We are all eagerly looking forward to the spring and summer. Michael and the cows can`t wait for the fields to dry up and the grass to grow. Whilst I am looking forward to the warmer weather, so we can all enjoy the outdoors, walking and spending time on the beach.
